1. The hirer is responsible for the conduct and the safety of the swimmers in their party.

2. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that the pool area and changing rooms are left in a clean and tidy condition. The hirer will reimburse the school the cost of making good any damage caused to the swimming pool during the period of hire.

3. The hirer must vacate the swimming pool area promptly at the end of the period of the hiring.

4. Parents/adults are responsible for the children in their care. There must be a ratio of one adult to two children under 7 years old. Children are not allowed in the pool without an adult present.

5. Children’s Parties: the hirer must ensure that there are enough adults to supervise the children in the pool. Children should never be left alone without adults present. Groups, including adults, must be no more than 15.

6. The Governing Body recommends that at least two adults should be responsible for supervision during a letting, one of whom should remain on the side of the pool and be ready to enter the water to render rescue and be able to carry out cardio pulmonary resuscitation if required.

7. The hirer should make themselves acquainted with the available safety equipment as well as the first aid kit.

8. Individuals must not swim if they have respiratory infections, uncovered wounds or if they are under the influence of alcohol.

9. No outside shoes of any kind are to be worn in the pool.

10. No food, sweets, alcohol or glass bottles are allowed in the pool area.

11. The pool is strictly a no-smoking area.

12. No running in the pool area.

13. No diving or jumping is allowed.

14. No talcum powder to be used in the changing rooms.

15. Any accident which causes contamination of the pool (e.g. blood, vomit, faeces) should be reported immediately to the school’s hiring administrator.

16. The pool cover should be replaced at the end of the hiring period. No swimmers should remain in the water when this is carried out.

17. The pool area must be locked up after use and the keys returned as instructed.

18. The toilet should be left clean and tidy (the floor mopped if necessary).

19. Shoes MUST be worn to the toilet.

20. No claim may be made against the school, the PTA or Somerset County Council for any accident or mishap that occurs which is not due to a defect in the fabric of buildings of the pool, pool area, or changing rooms.

21. The school reserves the right to cancel any hiring.
